Established in 2008, Smooth Power started by exploring various possibilities with LEDs — engineering and manufacturing some very innovative LED lights. By 2010, the course of business changed rapidly from being a lighting company to an electronic solution provider company, fully committed to manufacturing LED Drivers, specially High Power LED Drivers.
In 2008, Gurpreet Singh set out to build an LED lights factory. He spent weeks walking through Delhi's component markets — Bhagirath Place, Lajpat Rai, Karol Bagh — looking for the one part that would decide whether his lights ran cool, lasted ten years and earned a customer's trust: a good LED driver.
He didn't find one. Not at the price point Indian fixture-makers needed, not with the build quality he could put his name on. So he changed his plan. Instead of making lights, he'd make the part the lights couldn't live without.
That decision became Smooth Power.
Smooth Power opens with a single workbench, a soldering station, and the conviction that India deserves an LED driver it doesn't have to apologise for. The first 100 units ship within weeks. Word travels.
Production has tripled. We move into a 250 sq-yd facility, build a proper electronics lab, invest in oscilloscopes, surge generators and burn-in racks, and set up an actual office. R&D stops being a side activity and becomes the heart of the company.
After thirteen years renting, we buy a whole building in Sahibabad. No more landlord constraints, no more compromised layouts. The plant is designed from scratch around our process — material flow, ESD-safe zones, R&D adjacent to the production line. The first SMT-ready bay is laid down.
For years we'd been sending PCBs out for component placement and getting them back with surprises — wrong components, fly-by-night QC, missed lead times. We end the dependency: every board is now mounted on our own line, by our own people, to our own standard.
We bring in a full pick-and-place SMT machine. From copper-clad sheet to packed driver, the whole process now happens within the same building. Lead times collapse. Quality consistency goes up. Every traceable failure is one we can investigate ourselves.
The single most failure-prone component in any LED driver is the electrolytic capacitor. We stop trusting Indian distribution channels and start importing electros directly from validated manufacturers — same series, same date codes, batch by batch. Failure rates drop noticeably the next quarter.
Transformers — the other component every driver depends on — come in-house. We open Unit 2 in Durga Industrial Park to host transformer winding alongside high-volume assembly. Every magnetics curve in our drivers is now designed and wound by us. The supply chain shrinks to two buildings, both ours.
Eighteen years in, we ask the same thing every batch: would we put our name on this driver if it were going into our own home? If yes, it ships. If not, it doesn't. That's the entire quality system.
The quality of products plays a vital role in the growth of any firm. Our quality checking team checks the functionality of each device on rated current and power usage, ensuring efficiency and life.
We have full control of the Bill of Materials, and pride ourselves on using only the highest-quality components inside our products. A 2-year warranty is available for certain drivers with testing and certification of your light fixture by our experts.
With our flexible production range, we deliver high-quality LED Drivers in a timely fashion. This adds to the core competence of our clients who continuously face delivery issues.
Our goal and commitment to creating products that solve our customers' needs pushes us to create and deliver them with the highest standards and quality. We have the production capacity to produce products in bulk and deliver them within scheduled time.
Our in-house R&D team can develop products according to the customer's requirements — whether it's a specific wattage requirement, size, Isolated or Non-Isolated drivers, High Power Factor or Low Power Factor. If we don't have it, we can develop it for you.
Whether you're a luminaire manufacturer, distributor, export buyer or installer — we'd love to power your lights.
